Automap

Automap refers to the automatic matching of entities, attributes, and relationships across data models. While many data tools offer some form of automatic mapping—especially in ETL, integration, and modeling environments—ER/Studio implements Automap specifically to support model comparison and merging.

In ER/Studio Data Architect, the Automap feature is used within the Compare and Merge Wizard to identify and align corresponding objects across different versions or sources of data models. It intelligently detects similarities based on object names, structures, and metadata, helping modelers reduce manual mapping effort and maintain consistency across environments.

This feature is particularly valuable during model integration, version alignment, or when consolidating legacy systems into a unified data architecture. Automap streamlines these tasks by minimizing repetitive manual work and reducing the potential for human error.

ER/Studio’s Automap feature is tightly integrated into the modeling workflow, making it a powerful tool for maintaining accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across complex data architecture projects.
