How the AI Data Modeling Assistant Works

ER/Studio’s AI Data Modeling Assistant leverages the OpenAI GPT-4.1 API (not the public ChatGPT interface) through a secure, private connection to Idera’s AI infrastructure. Your prompts are processed in real time, and models are generated without exposing your data to model training or third-party access.

No. OpenAI does not store or use any API input/output for training.

Yes. Idera keeps a private log containing:

  • A random user identifier
  • The prompt and response
  • A timestamp

This is used only to improve service quality and debug issues. It is not shared with third parties or used for training.

Yes. You can:

  • Block the AI API (aida-api.idera.com) via your firewall

The LLM is trained on a broad set of public domain sources up to April 2023, including:

  • Technical documentation from SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, etc.
  • Open-source codebases
  • Online forums like Stack Overflow
  • Academic and industry white papers
  • Corporate and vendor websites

It does not access internal or private databases unless you provide them explicitly in a prompt.

Why It’s Safer Than Public AI Interfaces

Unlike the public ChatGPT web app (which may retain data for model improvement unless you opt out), the OpenAI API used by ER/Studio is stateless and ephemeral. Inputs are processed instantly and discarded—no retention, no reuse.
